In recent years, fed-batch has been the dominant cell culture method. Fed-batch differs from traditional batch culture in that nutrients are added strategically to maximize cell growth. At the start of culture, the bioreactor is filled with a basal amount of media to support initial cell growth. Feed media is added as needed to supply nutrients depleted by the growing cell population. In this way, the addition of feed media can be intentionally adjusted according to nutrient levels or viable cell density.
Feed media are designed to replenish nutrients depleted during cell culture and maintain cell growth and viability for higher productivity. Optimization of feed media composition and feeding strategy is the focus of fed-batch culture process development, for example, how to concentrate the media while providing all the essential nutrient substrates and maintaining characteristics such as osmotic pressure to maximize volumetric productivity and economic efficiency.
2×103A High-performance feed media
2×103A High performance feed media is animal-free, protein-free feed media, can be used for fed-batch culture of therapeutic protein product-producing Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells, through R&D to commercial manufacturing. 2×103A High performance feed media powder is sub-packed as 2×103A High performance feed media A and B.
BR7 concentrated high-performance feed media
BR7 concentrated high-performance feed media is animal-free, protein-free, chemical-defined (CD) high-performance feed media, can be used for fed-batch culture of therapeutic protein product-producing Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells, through R&D to commercial manufacturing. 2×103A High performance feed media can be combined use with BR7, to further improve the performance.
How to use
We recommend to start adding feed media during middle-late stage of cell exponential growth stages, usually on day 3 when cell density reaches 2.0~3.0×106 cells/mL. The feed amount of 2×103A high-performance feed media is: 5% on day 3, 5% on day 5, 7.5% on day 7, 7.5% on day 9, 5% on day 11, 5% on day 13, and the concentration of BR7 is recommended as 1%.
High-performance feed media can be used for cell lines using GS and dhfr screening systems, including CHO-K1, CHO-S, DG44 and CHOZN.
